Undoing the Way We See Things Now

Lesson 49

God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.

It is quite possible to listen to God’s Voice all day without interrupting your regular activities in any way. The part of your mind in which truth abides is in constant communication with God, whether you are aware of it or not. It is the other part of your mind that functions in the world and obeys the world’s laws. It is this part that is constantly distracted, disorganized, and highly uncertain.

     2 The part that is listening to the Voice of truth is calm, always at rest and wholly certain. It is really the only part there is. The other part is a wild illusion, frantic and distraught, but without reality of any kind. Try today not to listen to it. Try to identify with the part of your mind where stillness reigns forever. Try to hear God’s Voice call to you lovingly, reminding you that your Creator has not forgotten His Son.

     3 We will need four five-minute practice periods today, and more if possible. We will try actually to hear the Voice within you reminding you of God and of your Self. We will approach this happiest and holiest of all thoughts with confidence, knowing that in doing so we are joining our will with the will of God. He wants you to hear His Voice. He gave It to you to be heard.

    4 Listen in deep silence. Be very still and open your mind. Go past all of the raucous shrieks and sick imaginings that cover your real thoughts and obscure your eternal link with God. Sink deep into the peace that waits for you beyond the frantic, riotous thoughts and sounds and sights of an insane world. You do not live there. You are trying to reach your real home. You are trying to reach the place where you are truly welcome. You are trying to reach God.

     5 Do not forget to repeat today’s idea very frequently. Do so with your eyes open when necessary and closed when possible. And be sure that you sit quietly and repeat it slowly whenever you can, closing your eyes on the world and realizing that you are inviting God’s Voice to speak to you.^[1]

God’s Voice reminds me of how blessed I am in every single way.

God’s Voice reminds me I do not have pain or suffering.

God’s Voice reminds me there is no lack or loss in Him.

God’s Voice reminds me I do not have to be afraid of the people who do not love me.

God’s Voice calls me to study this Course.

God’s Voice calls me to share what He is teaching me.

I want, I need, I yearn, as Vital Necessity the constant communication with God. God’s Voice speaks to me always at me request. The Voice of Truth is always available it is calm, always at rest and wholly certain. The other part is wild illusion, frantic and distraught, but without reality of any kind. Try today not to listen to it. Try to identify with the part of your mind where stillness reigns forever. Try to hear God’s Voice call to you lovingly reminding you that your Creator has not forgotten you, His Son. With these two descriptions of “voices” it is pretty clear to me how to identify which voice I am hearing and to quickly correct when I find myself getting out of balance, to remember and focus on the Voice of “Truth! I pray for all my brothers, sisters and myself for continued guidance, wisdom, discernment, protection, and illumination of purpose in The Way, The Truth, The Life in Christ Jesus, Amen.
